Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake Trek

Annapurna Circuit trek with Tilicho Lake and Poon Hill takes us to the world’s highest lake in the Manang District of Nepal. The first part of the trail is that of the Annapurna circuit. However, from Manang we go to the mail valley to the west and trek up to the Tilicho Lake. Our trail again joins the Annapurna circuit route and crosses the Thorong La pass, one of the highest passes in the world. We also climb up to Poon Hill famous for its spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Katmandu 1400 m(4600 ft)

 Upon Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, You will be met and greeted with a traditional welcome by TravHill representatives and be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. A brief orientation along with the necessary documentation will be carried out by your guide. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu.

After breakfast your tour around Kathmandu will commence where you will be accompanied by a guide to your lingual preference. The tour will include a visit to the following places:
  • Boudhanath: A major Buddhist stupa located on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
  • Pashupatinath: The most revered temple by Hindus in Nepal, the temple carries a significance of mystical proportions and is a site to many important life events of Hindus.
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar Square or the Palace  Square is ancient courtyard the then Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley which is abundant is breathtaking architecture. Overnight stay at Kathmandu

Drive from Kathmandu to Bulbule

You will begin your journey early in the morning and you will drive through Trishuli River Valley. You will head towards Pokhara and then to Beshishar and further to Khudi, from where your trek will start.

Trek from Bulbule to Syange

In the beginning of your trek you will pass through beautiful rice fields, few suspension bridges, wonderful forests and pretty farms of communities and welcoming people all your way. As you begin to climb little altitude you will see that Manasalu mountains will get closer and clearer. You will love the view of the mountains and the smiles of the people who will introduce you to their culture and lifestyle as you reach Synge(1,100m).Overnight stay in Trekking Lodge.

From Syange to Chamje

The valley gets steeper as you continue upwards the Marshyangdi River Valley. You will begin to notice that the terrace farming are difficult in this area. You will pass through more small villages and more steeper trail. You will and reach Syange at 1,100m and up to Jagat at 1,300m. Add a little more steepness to your trail and you will end up at  Chamje at 1,410m, this marks an end to the day’s trek.

From Chamje to Dharapani

Tighten up your muscles as you will be moving higher and higher from Chamje.  No more rice grows as we move upwards and you will notice the farms are of corns, barley and potatoes. The route will  also takes you through beautiful foreests of rhododendrons and bamboos. You will soon reach the village of Tal, where you can see a flowing waterfall, and then continue on to your destination for the day: Dharapani (1,550m).

From Dharapani to Chame

From Dharapani the trail becomes more challenging as you cross some steep and forested ridges and cautiously and safely pass through few sites of landslides. You will get to see closer and clearer view of the mountains such as the Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and Annapurna IV (7,525m). Chame is also geothermally active region where there are many hot springs, you can enjoy a hot bath at one of the springs.

Chame to Upper Pisang

Trek From Chame gets a little challenging. You pass through place called Bartang and then to a dramatic place from where you can see down to the deep valley and up towards the Beautiful Annapurna Massif Peak. Adventures like this make it one of the most popular treks in Nepal. You cross the river and bridges, you advance towards the narrow and then wider sections of the valley of Manang. The view shows you snowy mountains in the background. This wonderful trek ends at the Village of Lower Pisang (3,300m).

From Upper Pisang to Manang

Starting from Pisang you will pass through a valley lying under the Annapurna III, 7,555. The landscape in this region lacks vegetation and looks are of bare rocks all around which in itself is a beauty. This place now features more harsh, cold and dry climate of the high plateau of Tibet. A short break for rest as well for the spiritual surge at the Barge Monastery where we can get candid with how Buddhists monks live their lives.Overnight stay at trekking lodge.

Explore Manang

Overnight stay at Trekking Lodge.

Manang is a very beautiful place. You will get to relax and spend time here in Manang for a day. This day will also help you acclamatize. You can elxplore the places around, have a light time because days ahead are going to get tougher as you move towards higher altitude in the trek. In Manang you can visit Buddhist Bhojo Gompa , Gangapurna Lake.

From Manang to Khangsar

After a easy day, gear up for a heavy trail but Do not worry you can  manage with a little bit of effort. You will head toward the Tilicho Valley. You will cross some landslides which is the most challenging but with the guidance of guide that will be done with much ease. As you ascend upwards the view of the Peak become more visible and you can get glimpes of the beautiful peak from your way itself. By the time you reach the little trekking lodge at Tilicho Base Camp(4,150 m), you will only see snowy peaks around and glaciers, everything making it a spectacular view for you.

From Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp

By the time you reach the little trekking lodge at Tilicho Base Camp(4,150 m), you will only see snowy peaks around and glaciers, everything making it a spectacular view for you. You can also feel that you have gain much altitude by the day.Overnight stay at Trekking Lodge.You still need to climb up few hundered meters more and the day has come. You will begin your day today heading upwards the valley.

Trek Tilicho Base Camp to Ledar

770m up to the head of the valley – you will get to see what you awaited all these days for the beautiful Tilicho Lake. The lake is set in a small and steep valley with 7,134m. The Tilich Peak lies on the southern side and is the source point for the lake. There are also several other high altitude peaks around the valley. You can take your time to take photographs, relax, enjoy, immerse,and forget yourself to nature. After some time, you will return to the basecamp(4,919).
You will follow your footsteps as you will return from Tilicho Base Camp, the same way you went up there. Soon, you will join the Annapurna Circuit trail to Manang. You will trek along a valley Yak Kharka and then to village of Ledar (4,200m).Overnight stay at Trekking Lodge.

To Thorong Phedi (4,450m) and over Thorong La Pass (5,416m) to Muktinath (3800m)

High ! Higher ! and higher! You will again ascend today around 500m. You will have to breathe in lesser oxygen as it gets scant as you move higher. Trails get little steeper upwards. Slow and gradual trek will acclamatize you and make it easier to step upwards. And soon you will reach a small settlement of Throng Phedis.  Thorang Phedi itself is not the local people but it exists just to suppot the trekkers and expedition climbers. You will stay overnight here and prepare yourself for the coming day’s challenge to pass through the popular Thorong Las Pass(4,450). From Thorong Phedi you will trek towards Thorang La pass, which is a challenging pass to cross over. But do not worry ! you will do it with little caution and lot of will power. Your guide will guide you to success. The Thorong La Pass is in 5416m or 17,764ft altitude where obviously oxygen is far less (data shows just 52% of the oxygen available at sea level is available here) .  Each breath counts, each breath you take has to be strategic. The guides are expereinced in this and they will help you through each step. You can also expect ice and snow on this trail and at the top of the pass. You will realize everything is worthy as you will begin to get spectacular view of snowy mountains.  You will feel accomplished and satisfied with what you have acheived sit back and relax for sometime and then you are ready to head downwards to the Historic Temple of Muktinath. From Muktinath to Jomsom

As you are coming towards end of the trek and hence, it starts to get easier. An easy walk along side the Kali Gandaki river bed will take you to Jomsom. You will pass through the largest gorge in the world as well. You will end your trek at Jomsom. Overnight at Trekking Lodge.

From Jomsom to Pokhara.

After such enthralling trek you would definitely want a rest. An eearly morning flight from Jomsom will take you to Pokhara, which again gives you a visual treat with the bird eye view of the spectacular snowy shiny mountains such Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.Overnight at the Hotel.

From Pokhara to Kathmandu

You will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara, the same way you had taken earlier, but this time with a feeling of accomplishment and triumph.

Kathmandu bound for a day

You are free to spend a day around in Kathmandu. You can do shopping or have a rest day. In the evening you will be driven for a farewell dinner along with cultural dance.

Final Departure

 After Breakfast – free time till departure –  A representative from TravHill Dot Com will transfer to Airport for onward destination with sweet memories of Nepal. We will drop you to Kathmandu Airport 3 hours before your flight time.
