Nepal is located geographically between China and India in the world map. Nepal is famously known for the highest peak range, the Himalayas, which encompasses the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest. Nepal is also recognized as the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, who is the founder of Buddhism. In the last decade, Nepal has earned a name, based on several media and travel publications, as one of the best destinations to travel to for adventure and culture-heritage discovery. Mainly famous for hiking and trekking expeditions, Nepal encompasses eight out of the fourteen highest mountains in the world, featuring picturesque snowy mountains, hills, lush valleys and gorgeous rivers. With the four seasons in effect in the different terrains, a unique display of nature’s vegetations, floras and wild-life are seen around the country.

How can I obtain a visa to travel to Nepal? Is there any country or embassy that issues visas on behalf of Nepal?

You can also view our Visa section of the website (https://travhill.com/essential-information/visa/). It is recommended that you apply for your tourist visa from the Nepalese embassy in your country. However if you are eligible for visa on arrival at the port of entry in Nepal, you can also pay for your tourist visa there. Only Indian nationals are excepted from getting a visa to enter Nepal. Two copies of passport photos are required for the visa.

When is the best season to travel to Nepal?

Due to optimum weather conditions for hiking and trekking, and exploring distant heritage sites, the Spring season from March -May, and fall season from September to November is recommended for tourists. If travelling during the summer monsoon season of June- August, it is best to trek in low rain areas like Upper Mustang, Dolpa and Mt. Kailash in Tibet.

 

 

 

What type of insurance should I need to have before coming to Nepal? Can I get insurance there?

We do not have insurance services available with us. It is highly recommended that you get a medical and rescue insurance to protect you financially, in case of emergencies. It is important that you choose a policy that includes expenses due to adventure travel as it is a unique case. Your insurance company should be aware of covering emergency air rescue through helicopter ambulance including medical treatments. The helicopter rescue coverage is not mandatory for group tour in city areas however, it is still best to have them. Please make sure you carry your insurance coverage with you when you are in the trip, or pre-send them to us for your records.

What kind of hotels do you use?

Based on your requests, we can arrange for the different star hotels in Kathmandu. While trekking, only guest house or tea house are available for lodging on the routes. Such tea house have private room (twin sharing) and facilities for hotel showers and western food. In the trekking journey, teahouse overnight stay usually schedules for dinner and breakfast, while lunch is done en-route in local eateries. The tea houses are locally owned lodges in a local community, allowing you to experience the village life of Nepalese people.

What kind of tour & trekking guide do you use for the trip?

Our guides are experienced, knowledgeable with english speaking capability. For a group of three or more, guides who can speak French, Spanish, German or Japanese, can be arranged for an additional fee.

What are the number requirements of your trips?

We make trips for any number of people, such as one person only, to most areas other than Tibet, Mustang, Dolpo, Manaslu and Kanchenjunga. The maximum optimum group size that we have found for a successful trip is twelve people. However, group booking for more than twelve people can also be accommodated.

Does your company help to arrange domestic flight, international flight, hotel bookings and other services?

We arrange all domestic flights, hotel bookings and other such services within the country. For international flights, we can only provide assistance and suggest you to do so from your home country.

How fit do I have to be for Trekking?

Trekking have been done by people of all age groups from 10yrs to 65 yrs old. Though you are not required to be exceptionally fit and strong, you do have to reasonably fit and healthy. Treks are usually 5 to 7 hours per day, which is dependent on your walking speed. You do not need any additional mountaineering skills, unless going to the Everest region.
