Location

Kanchenjunga is World’s Third Tallest Mountain Trail on a remote mountain trail. Located in the far north-eastern corner of Nepal. Mt. Kanchenjunga is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountain massifs in the world. The name Kanchenjunga means ‘Five Treasures of the Great Snow’ which is in reference to the five summits that make up Kanchenjunga. Kanchenjunga circuit trek offers a unique experience to travelers seeking something new. The sight of the mighty Kanchenjunga in itself leaves you speechless. This combined with the warmth and simplicity of the mountain folks leaves you humbled.

The highlights of the Kanchenjunga circuit trek are the magnificent views of Kanchenjunga Massif, varied landscapes of forests, rivers, glaciers and enchanting forests of rhododendrons. Spread in an area of 2035 sq. km., Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is another attraction of this trek where you will find rare and unique flora and fauna including rhododendrons, orchids, muck deer, snow leopard, Asiatic black bear, red panda etc. Kanchenjunga area is also a global hotspot for plant biodiversity and as many as 23 species of rhododendrons and over 2000 flowering plants have been identified here.

Kathmandu Airport Arrival.

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Meet and traditional welcome by our representative & get transferred to hotel. A brief orientation along with the necessary documentation will be carried out by your guide.

Kathmandu Sight Seeing

After breakfast your tour around Kathmandu will commence where you will be accompanied by a guide of your lingual preference. The tour will include a visit to the following places:
  • Boudhanath: A major Buddhist stupa located at the north eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
  • Pashupatinath: The most revered temple by Hindus in Nepal, the temple carries a significance of mystical proportions and is a site to many important life events of Hindus.
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar Square or the Palace Square is ancient courtyard the then Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley which is abundant is breathtaking architecture.

Flight to Bhadrapur and drive to Taplejung

This day, you will take an early morning flight to Bhadrapur. Then on we will trek towards Mitlung passing through Hangdewa river and walking along the Tamor river.

Trek to Taplejung- Mitlung

Then on we will trek towards Mitlung passing through Hangdewa river and walking along the Tamor river.

Mitlung -Chiruwa Trek

On this way we make our way towards the picturesque Limbu village of Chiruwa. On our way we will pass through Sinwa and Tawa.

Today we will trek from Chirwa to Sukathum passing through varied landscapes such as cardamom fields and dense forests.

Chiruwa-Sukathum Trek

We trek uphill for sometime then descend to the lush green fields below and continue trekking along the Tamor River passing through a dense forest. It’s both uphill and downhill trek until crossing the Ghunsa River after which we reach Sukathum.

Sukathum - Amjilosha Trek

The initial part of the trek is quite easy involving a trek of about one and a half hour through flat lands. Then on, you will make an ascent through steep hills to reach Amjilosha.

Amjilosha- Gyapla Trek

The trek to Gyapla begins with uphill hike along the river bank and passing through dense forest of bamboo, fir and rhododendrons. You finally reach Gyapla which is primarily a Tibetan settlement.

Gyapla – Ghunsa Trek

As you trek towards Ghunsa, we will witness the Gunsa river and pass through different terrace farms of potato, wheat and barley.

This day, you will explore the predominantly Tibetan town of Ghunsa.

Ghunsa-Kambachen Trek

Today we head towards Kambachen passing through beautiful meadows and pine and rhododendron forests. On our way we will also be graced by majestic sight of Mt Jannu.

Kambachen-Lhonak Trek

A strenuous day’s trek lies ahead as we pass through rocky fields and large boulders to reach Lhonak. On our way we will also pass through the Ramtang monastery.

Lhonak-Pangpema / Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek

On this day we trek along the Kanchenjunga glacier to reach Pangpema / Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. You will also be able to witness the majesty of Jannu, Kanchenjunga and Chang Himal.

Trek Back To Kambachen

We retrace our steps to Kambachen via Lhonak.

Kambachen-Ghunsa Trek

We retrace our steps to reach Ghunsa where we will be accompanied by spectacular scenes of beautiful forests and towering mountains.

Ghunsa- Sele Le Trek

On this day we will make a steep climb from Ghunsa to Sele Le. On our way we will pass through dense forests of moss, juniper and rhododendron.

Sele Le- Cheram Trek

Today we will make an arduous trek passing through several passes- Sinion La, Mirgin La and Sinelapche Bhanjyang to reach Cheram.

Cheram- Ramche Trek

We ascend past the snout of the Yalung Glacier and walk alongside the Simbuwa Khola, pass through Lapsang village and reach Ramche. While there, we walk further up the valley or ascend a ridge for a tremendous view of blue sheeps. We then follow the stream before climbing on the moraine top until confronted by Kanchenjunga’s southern face. We walk further ahead for a glimpse of the Jannu Himal. We can even consider continuing to Oktang Monastery. Then on we will descend to Cheram.

Ramche- Tortong Trek

Today we descend to Tortong along the path of the Simbhu Khola.

Tortong-Yamphudin Trek

Today we descend to Yamphudin village inhabited by Gurungs, Rais and Limbus. On our way we will pass through Lasiya Bhanjyang.

Yamphudin-Khebang Trek

On this day we ascend the Ekchana Bhanjyang to reach Khebang.

Khebang-Happukhola Trek

On this day we descend down form Khebang and cross Kabeli Khola to reach Happukhola.

Happukhola-Birtamod Drive

Today we will make an early morning drive from Happukhola to Birtamod which should take around 9-10 hours. We are in the southern plains of the country hence you will feel that the climate is much warmer.

Birtamod- Bhadrapur Drive and Flight to Kathmandu.

After a short drive to Bhadrapur, we will then take a short flight to Kathmandu.

A day to yourself in Kathmandu

You will have a day for yourself to engage in activities of your preference. You may indulge in collecting souvenirs to take a small part of Nepal back home. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner.

You will be taken from your hotel to the airport as per your schedule. You will reach the airport 2 hours prior to your flight.
