Gokyo Lake Trek- A call from paradise

Gokyo Lake Trek  presents an exceptional chance to witness gigantic Himalayan ranges. The mountains are over 8000m including the highest Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and the Ngozumpa Glacier- the largest glacier in Nepal Himalayas. Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri Trek is a beautiful journey to the enticing Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri. Besides,  it is one of the most amazing viewpoints for great views of Everest and other Himalayas. The 14-days trip begins in Kathmandu where we visit several heritage sites. The Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri Trek is an alternative to classical trek in the Everest region. Instead, it takes us to the turquoise  which provides exceptional views of Everest and the Himalayas. We also get to marvel at the massive Ngozumpa Glacier and the Gokyo valley from Gokyo Ri.

We can also visit the Sagarmatha National park to view the protected floras and faunas. Most importantly, we will see the sights Gokyo valley has a collection of stoned houses and meadows on the shore of a great lake, Dudh Pokhari.

One of the most noteworthy marks of the trek is the view of the wonderful ice edge between Gyachung (2922m) and Cho Oyu located in the Khumbu region. The Khumbu region always offers the most magical, most serene experience of all, to this experience, Sherpa people add beauty and affection. You will be overwhelmed by the warmth and hospitality extended by the Sherpa People.

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Katmandu

 Upon Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, You will be met and greeted with a traditional welcome by TravHill representatives and be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. A brief orientation along with the necessary documentation will be carried out by your guide. Overnight stay at your hotel.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu.

After breakfast your tour around Kathmandu will commence where you will be accompanied by a guide of your lingual preference. The tour will include a visit to the following places:
  • Boudhanath: A major Buddhist stupa located on the northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
  • Pashupatinath: The most revered temple by Hindus in Nepal, the temple carries a significance of mystical proportions and is a site to many important life events of Hindus.
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar Square or the Palace Square is ancient courtyard the then Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley which is abundant is breathtaking architecture.

Flight Kathmandu to Lukla and commence Trek to Phakding

You will be transferred from Hotel to Airport to catch an early morning, brief flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla you will start your trek by walking northwards along the Dudh Kosi River Valley, and reach a village called Phakding(2800m),you will also pass a suspension bridge on your way. Nature’s scenery, vegetation and beauty will accompany you on your trek in this area and awaiting you will be the Snow capped majestic Himalayan peaks.

Trek from Phakding up to Namche Bazaar

This day, you will first walk across the river and to the village called Monjo. This is the actual entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. After taking care of all the formalities and ensuring your permits, you will start your trek which will be an upward trek. In this upward trek you will climb altitude of 1600 m to reach our destination for the day Namche Bazar at 3440m. You can take the pace of this trek slow and immerse yourself in the scenery and beauty of  mountain summits as you move deeper  into the national Park

Essential rest day in and around Namche Bazaar

3440 m is a significant altitude for your physiology. Hence you will have to acclimatize and adapt to reduced oxygen levels. This is necessary for the management of risks of altitude sickness. You will be guided to identify symptoms of the sickness and the best adaptation techniques. Namche bazar is an interesting place so taking a rest day or hovering around the town, you can chose !  You can visiting places such as the famous Edmund Hillary School,Or the beautiful Everest View Hotel which provides the majestic view of the Mount Everest summit which can inspire for your upcoming trek or may be also for your lifetime.

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole via Khumjung

You will begin with a relatively easy trek, seeing around the majestic view of Ama dablam and passing through Khumjung and on to Phortse Tenga. From Phortse Tenga you will begin to climb upwards through interesting woodland which looks more beautiful during spring when Rhododendrons bloom.

Trek from Dole to Machhermo

From Dole you climb steadily alongside the valley. This trail passes through many summer settlements, Here, people stay when they bring yaks for pasteurization during summer. You get excellent views of Cho Oyu, and the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku.

Trek to Gokyo (4,750m)

You will climb valley of the Dudh Koshi River coming out above the tree line. You will pass through several pastures used by yak herders during summer. As you move upwards you will get to see beautiful scenery. After Passing the dramatic Machermo (4410m) Valley and on to the small settlement of Panka, you will walk close to the banks of the river and climb to the top of a small ridge which will lead you into the first lake. You will soon arrive to the Gokyo. The mountain reflects in the green water, creating a beautiful scenery.

Rest day at Gokyo (4,750m)

You will start your trek towards the 4th and the 5th lakes. You will walk a great route as for both the lakes you will have to follow the valley floor or climb to the ridge above the glacier on the right hand.Overnight stay at Camp.

Trek down to Khumjung Village

On this day, we will trek to Khumjung village set at the elevation of 3780m. Dole actually blooms strikingly especially during the springtime with numerous flowers. Walking further, we will reach to hidden valley, Khumjung village. This is one of the most important villages in the Everest Region.

Here we will make a trip to Khumjung monastery and also see the sights of the surrounding village occupied by Sherpa people. Overnight at tea house.

Trek down to Manjo, 5-6 hours

We will leave Khumjung village. After that, the way moves to Syangboche runway which rewards us with charming peak views. Also, we will walk to Thame village. As we depart from Thami, we will walk across the Bhote Khola by means of a bridge. We will after that walk all the way from side to side with the area of Thamo and get there at Namche Bazaar.

Walking down, we will cross the large suspension bridge above the Dudh Kosi River and then pass all the way through Jorsale to get to Manjo. Overnight at Tea House.

Trek to Lukla

This is the last day of the trek. We will walk ahead from Manjo to get to Lukla which is situated at the altitude of 2840 meters. Which takes approximately 5 hours. Here we will celebrate the success of our trek. Overnight at Tea House.

Fly back to Kathmandu

Early in the morning, we will fly to Kathmandu on this day. After that, we will transfer to our hotel in Kathmandu. Rest of the day to explore around Kathmandu if any remaining. Overnight in the hotel.Meals: Breakfast

Final Departure

 After Breakfast – free time till departure –  A representative from TravHill Dot Com will transfer to Airport for onward destination with sweet memories of Nepal. We will drop you to Kathmandu Airport 3 hours before your flight time.

  • Nepal entry visa fee, you can easily issue the visa upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport – Kathmandu. You will require 2 passport size photos, $30 USD per person .
  • Your personal Travel insurance. Covers helicopter rescue, medical bill
  • Your Personal Equipment for Trekking. (Sleeping bag(-15), down jacket, Trekking shoes, sun glass, sunscreen, Gloves, trekking stick.
  • International Airfare and Airport Departure tax.
  • Your all meal Lunch & Dinner while you stay in Kathmandu.
  • Local Government tax of 20 USD per person to be paid in Lukla counter directly.
  • In the Lukla flight, the luggage of 12 kg is only included. If you have extra baggage, You will have to pay extra per kg Rs 100
  • If there is early arrival or late departure other than the trek date, and If you are back to Kathmandu early from the trek due to any problem or rescue, the extra accommodation is not included,
  • Your trip includes only one time airport transfer to and by lukla. If you have to return back to hotel again and again go to lukla airport because of weather problem, it will be your additional pay.
