Koshi Tappu Wildlife Safari
Koshi Tappu wildlife safari tour is a popular safari destination located in eastern part of Nepal and one of the finest birding sites in Asia. It offers spectacular views of natural wilderness. The reserve is a wetland of international significance. In 1987, government declares it a Samsar site. It is home to more than 440 bird species. Including 20 duck species, 2 species of ibises, many storks, egrets and herons and other rare species.
It lies on the floodplains of the Sapta Koshi River in the south-eastern Terai. In 1976 to preserve habitat for the only remaining population of wild buffalo, Arna this reserve was created. Koshi Tappu safari is popular for wild elephant sightseeing. Aong with that, it is also popular for Ganges River Dolphin, Gaur and Blue bullnwith. Futhermore, you can see 27 other species of mammals. Besides, census records 485 species of birds in the 176 sq. Km wildlife reserve.
The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve safeguards the pristine riparian wetlands, cattail fields, mudflats, grasslands, forests, marshes and swamps, lakes and ponds, and excavated ponds. Some of the flagship species found in the reserve are the globally threatened wild water buffalo called ‘arna’ in Nepal (Bubalus bubalis arnee), the Gangetic dolphin (Platanista gangetica) and endemic fish species (Barilius jalkapoorei and Pseudeutropius murius). Other globally threatened fauna include nilgai, smooth-coated otter, and red-crowned roof turtle.

Arrival at Biratnagar
- Arrive at Biratnagar Airport. Meet and drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp

- 3 pm – Birdwatching around Saptakoshi river on foot

Full Day Safari
- 5:30 am – Wake up call
- 6 am – Morning nature walk in the vicinity
- 8 am – Breakfast
- 9 am – 6 pm: Raft boat on the upper part of Sapta Koshi River with naturalist to view some of the water birds, water buffaloes, dolphins and various water habitats. End boat trip by the abnk of river and have picnic lunch. Short drive to the Koshi Barrage to view some bird life and fresh water dolphins. Late afternoon return to the camp. (Please note: Koshi Barrage and surrounding area is wide and everyday guests will be taken to different areas).

- 6 am: More bird watching in the nearby jungle
