Everest Cultural Trek

Everest cultural trek is one of the most unbelievable trekking trails in Nepal, as this trail provides superb views of mountains mixed with Sherpa, Rai and other cultural groups living in the area. This region  is the home to Sherpa, the world’s most famous mountaineers and trekkers. Tengboche monastery is another place and center of attraction for Buddhist culture. The sacred stones Chhortens, Mani walls (boulders marked with Buddhist prayer inscriptions) and prayer flags (Om mani padme hum, hence the name “Mani stone”) as a form of prayer in Tibetan Buddhism mark everything is unstable and astonishing that everyone is enchanted with.

Everest cultural trek begin at either with a one day drive from Kathmandu to Bhandar via Jiri and then follow the classic trails to Mt. Everest region or have short flight (40 minutes) from Kathmandu to Lukla and then follow the classic trails to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche Monastery, enter into Khumjung village, one of the homeland of Sherpa and then discover the culture, excellent views of sceneries, lifestyles of people living in the area. From Tengboche monastery you also can have spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and and several other gigantic peaks. After making excursion around the area, you will return back to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu or follow the classic trails to Bhandar and then catch bus then return back to Kathmandu.

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

Upon Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, You will be met and greeted with a traditional welcome by TravHill representatives and be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. A brief orientation along with the necessary documentation will be carried out by your guide. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu.

After breakfast your tour around Kathmandu will commence where you will be accompanied by a guide of your lingual preference. The tour will include a visit to the following places:
  • Boudhanath: A major Buddhist stupa located at the north eastern outskirts of Kathmandu.
  • Pashupatinath: The most revered temple by Hindus in Nepal, the temple carries a significance of mystical proportions and is a site to many important life events of Hindus.
  • Kathmandu Durbar Square: Durbar Square or the Palace Square is ancient courtyard the then Malla Kings of Kathmandu Valley which is abundant is breathtaking architecture.

Kathmandu- Lukla Flight and Trek to Phakding

Have Breakfast. In the morning you will make a scenic flight to Lukla which lies towards the southern entrance of Sagarmatha National Park and the Mount Everest. Upon reaching at Lukla, you will prepare and head towards Phakding during which you will trek along the Dudh Koshi River Valley. Dinner and Overnight stay at Phakding.

Phakding- Namche Bazar Trek (3450m)

Have Breakfast. On this day you will trek to Namche Bazar, a gateway to Everest and a spot for altitude acclimatization.  All necessary permits and documentations will be arranged by your official guide. Dinner and Overnight stay at Namche Bazar.

Rest day at Namche Bazar (3450m)

Have Breakfast. Apart from visiting areas in and around Namche Bazar, this day marks an important day for travelers to acclimatize oneself to the significant altitude. Your guide will instruct you regarding the steps to be undertaken in order to properly acclimatize to local conditions and mitigate any risk of altitude sickness. You also have the option of visiting places such as the Edmond Hillary School and the Everest View Hotel. Have Dinner and Overnight stay at Namche Bazar.

Namche Bazar- Thame

Have Breakfast. From Namche, the walk to Thame is an easy walk of about five hours. The trail follows an almost steady level until you reach the settlement of Thamo, a cluster of houses on the main trail. Here, you have an opportunity to learn about the Sherpa culture which still reflects some stories of Nomad and you have the pass near to see how they came in to Thame all the way from Tibet. Dinner & Overnight at Thame. (5hrs)

Thame- Kyangjuma

Have Breakfast. Return through same path near Namche. The short cut trail to Khumjung climbs through forests to Khumjung. After about one and half hour’s climb, you reach at Shyangboche (3700m), a small settlement with a airstrip. Syangboche airstrip is the highest airstrip in Nepal. Again the trail ascends passing through the yak farm and a Buddhist Stupa. Excellent views of the Everest, Lhotse and Amadablam can be seen from here. Then a short descend take you to the village of Khumjung, the biggest Sherpa settlement of the region. Then a short descend take you to Kyangjuma (4 hrs). Dinner and Overnight at Kyangjuma.

Kyangjuma- Phortse Trek

Have Breakfast. The trail first climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests, which give away to fragrant stands of juniper and large conifers. This part of the trek is especially beautiful in spring when the rhododendrons are blooming. We pass a herders’ hut at Tongla (3950m) and then climb gently to Mongla. From here the views of Khumbila and Tawachee are tremendous throughout the day.The trail now descends down steeply to the Ngozumba River where we stop for the lunch.After the lunch we will cross the River and climb up through the dense forest to glorious Sherpa Phortse village.(6 hrs). Dinner & Overnight at Phortse.

Phortse- Dingboche Trek

Have Breakfast. Today we head towards the east of the Phortse village continuing on the rough trail of the ridges, viewing the fantastic scenes of Amadablam, Tyangboche Monastery and get to the Pangboche Monastery.It is the oldest Monastery in this area.Then the trail goes to join the regular path to Everest Base Camp in the new Pangboche where we start walking towards the Sommare Village that takes us to Dingboche Village where you find yourself surrounded by the mountains all the time.(6 hrs)

Excursion day

Have Breakfast. Today we will hike up to the view point Chhukung ri and Island peak base camp where we will be enjoying the close views of Island Peak, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and other many more unnamed peaks close to us. It is flat and rough trail at beginning and then gradual uphills to Chhukung in the height of 4900m. The Trek to Island Peak base camp and climbing Chhukunri gives plenty of time to acclimatize to head forward, the next day comfortably. (6 hrs)

Dingboche- Tengboche

Have Breakfast. The route from Dingboche decends the Imja valley, then crosses the Khumbu Khola on a wooden bridge and climbs to rejoin the upward trail at some stone huts. Following the trail downhill, we arrive at Tengboche (3 hrs).

Dinner & Overnight stay at Tengboche.

Tengboche- Jorsale

Have Breakfast. From Tengboche, we descend steeply to the suspension bridge at Phunkitenga and after a lunch break we cross the Dudh Koshi and ascend to Tashinga. From here, the trail contours high above the valley through Shanasa before arriving at Kyangjuma. We slowly head back to Jorsale through the busy Namche Bazar. We descend down to Jorsale bridge through the jungle, rough trail down and River bank of Dudhkosi once more to stop this beautiful River side accomodation ( 5:30hrs. Dinner and Overnight at Jorsale).

Jorsale- Lukla Trek

We start our last day walk along the River following the bridges to Monjo then It’s about three hours walking to Lukla.We walk along the River Dudh Koshi again and take a final uphills from Chheplung to Lukla.It’s our last night where you never like to miss final chatting with our Guide and Porters and drinks. Dinner & Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Lukla to Kathmandu Flight

Have Breakfast. We rise early in the morning to be ready for the arrival of our aircraft for the flight back to Kathmandu. We are met at the airport and transferred to our hotel, located in Kathmandu(have choice the Hotel). Overnight at Hotel.

Final Departure

After Breakfast – free time till departure –  A representative from TravHill Dot Com will transfer to Airport for onward destination with sweet memories of Nepal. We will drop you to Kathmandu Airport 3 hours before your flight time.
