Langtang Tamang Heritage Trails

Langtang Tamang Heritage Trails is rough patchwork of the local footpaths weaved amid the vibrant cultural villages settled by the ethnic Tamang community who has preserved their cultural heritage, arts, artisans crafts on virgin form. Langtang Tamang Heritage trails is threaded along the trail passing through lively villages sticked to traditional life, perceiving the graceful Tamang culture with taste of local and organic food mingling with inhabitants and sharing experience and joke with them. Langtang valley, also known as the “Valley of Glaciers” offers a plenty of wildlife, rich cultural practice and unique lifestyle. We will be trekking through Tamang villages with its life, culture and crafts which have remained untouched from few centuries. The trail grants wilderness at its extreme through beautiful alpine landscape, flat pastureland and dense rhododendron forest. The main residents of the area are believed to be descendants of Tibetans from Kerung who mingled with Tamang of the Helambu area.  

The trek starts with short drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. We will be trekking through picturesque villages, terraced slopes and pristine valleys. In route we will be blessed with panoramic mountain vista of nearby peaks and drench in the natural hot springs in Tatopani. Continuing the walk toward north we will be visiting local fort, monastery and exquisite local architecture of Tamang people. As we come to the end of the trek we will be enjoying home-stay experience in Briddim.

Tamang Heritage Trail is newly opened trail which once used to be salt caravan route between Nepal and Tibet.
