Kathmandu Valley Rim Mountain Biking trip is one of the famous mountain biking destinations in Nepal. It brings you to the rural villages, several mountain ranges, and panoramic views of the beautiful sceneries.

Valley Rim Mountain Biking tour is the perfect option for those who love to explore hidden beauties of Kathmandu Valley. It specifies the beautiful hills residents by alpine forest, traditional Nepalese villages, hidden temples and natural surroundings. Valley Rim also offers several hidden waterfalls which are lies in the forest.

The Valley Rim takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites; Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath Stupa and former royal complex of Kathmandu Valley.

Throughout the trip, we will visit some cool places nearby Kathmandu Valley like Kakani, Budhanilakantha, Nagarkot, Shivapuri Hill, Palanchowk, and Chagunarayan.

The trip is a fun filled but the adventurous journey, suitable for those who have some off-road biking experience since few trails are technical.

Kathmandu Airport Arrival (1345 meters).

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Meet and traditional welcome by our representative & get transferred to hotel. Welcome drink followed by tour briefing. Evening is free to explore as own.

Overnight at Kakani

We will meet shortly after an early morning breakfast at Hotel. We prepare our gear and backpack and then ride off to Kakani. We head through the clamoring back streets of Thamel and on to great wide undulating jeep tracks close by the Nagarjuna forest.

Your efforts are rewarded by breathtaking mountain sceneries. On the way, we taste the delicious trout fish cultivated locally – which gives the route the name “Trout Highway.” We bike uphill to Kakani, which is at 2,100m rise. Once we reach our destination, we enjoy the dazzling views of Ganesh and Langtang mountains and the valley of Likhu Khola 1,000m underneath.

Kakani to Budhanilakantha (1630m)

Overnight at Budhanilakantha.

Head off on a best amongst other single tracks in the valley down towards the Budhanilkantha Temple (Sleeping Vishnu), going through the Shivapuri National Park. Budhanilkantha is an astounding fifth-century statue of the Lord Vishnu, leaning back on the loop of high ruler winds amidst little lake.

Your efforts are rewarding by breathtaking panoramic mountain views of Langtang and Ganes Himal in transit. Besides, the hotel you’ll be staying at in Budhanilkantha is true resort set up in a country setting with culturally rich and usually unblemished environment whose garden harbors almost 75 types of birds and 2,000 flowering trees and bushes. We will stay overnight at a resort.

Ride from Budhanilakantha to Nagarkot (2175m)

Overnight stay at Nagarkot.

Today we take off towards Boudhanath, the biggest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. Following the landing area past Boudhanath, we take in clearer views of Kathmandu. We proceed on the ride to the Sankhu village, and we stop here for lunch and explore this old town.

From here we bike along a jeep track street to wind our way up with a two-hour climb to Nagarkot – one of most known hill stations of the country. The views of the mountain range from Nagarkot, particularly from the Tower, more than repay this strenuous rising. On a sunny morning, even Mt. Everest can be seen! We stay in Nagarkot at a guesthouse from where we can enjoy the sunrise.

Rest day at Nagarkot

We set aside time to explore the various biking trails around Nagarkot, or simply take some rest and enjoy the fresh air at Nagarkot. You may wish to visit Changu Narayan, a culturally rich temple not a long way from here.

The temple complex incorporates one of the eldest Hindu temples in the Kathmandu valley and has complicated statues and stone tablets portraying ancient Hindu legends. From here you can also enjoy great views of the valley and encompassing slopes. Overnight at a hotel.

Ride from Nagarkot to Palanchowk (820m)

Overnight stay at Palanchowk

We will head down the hill on a blend of single and jeep tracks. We plummet through terraced paddy fields and little cultivating villages. We turned off to Palanchowk and climbed 9km on a cleared street.

You’ll visit the Bhagawati Temple, which houses a standout amongst the most delightful and venerated Bagawati goddess’ pictures in Nepal.

The dazzling image is carved of dark stone and adorned with gems. From your hill vantage point, you’ll have a fantastic view of the Himalaya and the encompassing valleys.

Ride from Palanchok to Dhulikhel (1600m)

Overnight stay at Dhulikhel.

Following an incredible night at Palanchowk, we begin the day with an off-road plummet. This trail extends technical however there is a simpler choice further west, which merges with a similar trail. We cross the primary street and proceed 20km uphill to Dhulikhel and our lodging for the night.

We eat here, and for the those who haven’t had enough rides, there is a time in the afternoon to explore the nearby trails or the very much saved town.

Ride from Dhulikhel to Balthali (1145m)

Overnight stay at Balthali.

From Dhulikhel, we travel on the level, for the most part, cleared the route to Balthali. The traditional villages with old architecture of the houses and incalculable temple welcome us. This takes into account an excellent spot for touring.

The greenery and the homesteads make our ride extremely charming. The Balthali village is tucked behind the Panauti forest and is considered as a typically and culturally vibrant destination. Ride from Balthali to Lakure Bhanjyang (1,545m)

Leaving Bhaktapur, we make a beeline for north-west on jeep tracks and single tracks, passing paddy fields along the beautiful and peaceful Phulchowki forest on our approach to the Godavari. The Godavari Botanical Garden has an extensive variety of intriguing and indigenous plants in its well-known patio nurseries.

It has been of prime significance for relevant research and observation and is mainstream among both local people and tourists in light of its satisfying scene encompassed by evergreen typical woodland. You can feel a feeling of serenity and refreshment in the Godavari, which also has multitudinous hiking spots, including Phulchowki hill – the most elevated point in the Kathmandu valley. Ride from Lakure to Kathmandu (1345) via Patan Durbar Square

Overstay in Kathmandu.

We spend our energy exploring some exciting trails close to the Godavari then onto astounding off-road trails near Kathmandu, a charming conclusion to our exciting biking session! In transit, we will visit the Patan Durbar Square, which is a fascinating blend of royal residence buildings, artistic yards, and graceful pagodas.

The former royal residence complex is the focal point of Patan’s religious and social life and houses a historical center containing a variety of bronze statues and religious articles. One exceptional landmark here is the seventeenth-century temple devoted to the Hindu god Krishna, assembled altogether of stone.

We come back to the hurrying around of Thamel on landing area streets and commend our fulfillment of this remunerating trip.

Kathmandu Sightseeing

Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Your touring excursion will begin at around 7.00am after a light breakfast. You will have a private vehicle and an expert tour guide to explore the city.

We visit Boudhanath Stupa, one of the greatest Buddhist sanctums on the planet, where we watch Buddhist priests imploring in the religious communities encompassing the stupa.

After Boudhanath Stupa we visit Pashupatinath, one of the major temples of Hindus, situated on the banks of the blessed Bagmati River. Here we see Holy men (sadhus) reflecting, travelers showering and infrequently memorial service fires consuming on the ghats.
